Mark & Jennelle

Mark and Jennelle were both born and raised in Baca County and graduates of Pritchett School, Mark in 1991 and Jennelle in 1995. The farms where the Crane’s grew up were 10 miles apart and their current home is 7 miles from both of those farms. Mark and Jennelle have been married since 1995 and have 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. As a whole, the Crane’s are family oriented, and are very involved in their children’s activities. This is also true of their children. Wether it is wheat harvest or working cattle, their children participate in the workings of the farm and ranch. Mark purchased his first Registered Gelbvieh cows in 1992 and built his herd through Embryo Transfer and Artificial Insemination. The Crane’s have continued to rely on Artificial Insemination to keep the best genetics in their herd. After 14 years of private treaty bull sales, the Crane’s hosted their 1st Annual “Share the Gold” bull sale in 2007. The Crane’s goal is to offer 100 of the best Gelbvieh, Angus and Balancer bulls in the business.

Cattle

We have been raising seed stock since 1992 and boy has it been fun. Since we started in the Gelbvieh seed stock business, we have seen the breed gain great value. Of all the Continental breeds, Gelbvieh is the most valuable to the cow-calf man due to the maternal values of early puberty, milk and rebreeding ability. Gelbvieh have been well established by MARC data to produce more pounds of calf weaned per cow exposed than any of the other breeds tested. These Gelbvieh characteristics give you, the rancher, the option of keeping replacements or selling heifer calves.
